ISO Public Protection Classification

The HFD Public Protection Classification (PPC) is 04/4X

Many insurance companies use Public Protection Classification (PPC) information for marketing, underwriting, and to help establish fair premiums for property insurance coverage. ISO collects and evaluates information from communities in the U.S. on their structure fire suppression capabilities. The data is analyzed and a PPC grade from 1 to 10 is assigned to the community. HFD has a split classification:

• The first class applies to properties within 5 road miles of a recognized fire station and within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant.
• The second class applies to properties beyond 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant, but within 5 road miles of a recognized fire station.
• Properties over 5 road miles from a recognized fire station would receive a class 10.
